Yes, according to what they said at Fan Day. ACTUAL dugouts.

I am pretty sure 550 is total seating - bleachers and chair-backs. I counted the chairbacks in the render, and it looks like 96-ish.

Here is what it says in the article:

"The softball renovations will include replacing all the current grandstands with new stadium seating for more than 550 fans, including chair back seating. "

That is more than we seat now, I think. 1K maybe with people sitting in folding chairs.

Troy State's softball bleachers seat a little over 100.

...and Piedmont's football stadium has more seating than a number of FCS schools.

I was just looking at FBS stadium capacities.

JSU Stadium capacity is currently larger than:
Bowling Green (MAC)
FIU (Sunbelt)
WKU (Sunbelt)
Ball State (MAC)

It is tied with Ohio U and a few others, and within 5-6k and nicer than many others. Most all Sunbelt schools have capacities of 30k or less.

...sorry, I got off-track. Talking about capacities and Piedmont can do that to me :)

No I'm positive we seat 1000 now. All of the existing seating will not be torn down. The 550 is what will be new.

You need to tell JSU then. I cut and pasted from the site:

“We feel like once we get both of these projects complete, it will allow us to host NCAA Tournaments for both softball and tennis,” added Koegel.

The softball renovations will include replacing all the current grandstands with new stadium seating for more than 550 fans, including chair back seating. The project will also include a state of the art pressbox, with radio booths and also an overflow media workspace with video capabilities.

According to Moose, yes. Their starting as soon as the home season ends.
